Emailing Early This Week

Hey family! You are getting your email from me this week early because for the next few weeks I will not have a p-day.  With the investigators, sites, cast training, and pageant we are all booked. So if you don't hear from me for a while, I'm still alive and kickin'... so don't freak out. I got the package with the skirts and the dress and shoes. Thank you for that! I just need to go run and get a slip so that I can wear them! And also the Costco dried mangos :) mmmm!  Sister Barrus says her favorite treats involve anything with chocolate and peanut butter. I don't really need anything.. I am doing good! But if you find anything fun you think we'd like, Sister Barrus and I would love that! Sister Barrus needs some spoiling too. She's going home soon and needs some lovin' so she's not so sad! I love you mom. Thank you for everything you do. I'm sad Nana had a rough week. Will you give her a squeeze for me? I am glad she is doing better though. Tell her to stay strong and to read this scripture. 2 Ne. 8: 7-8. I'm glad summer dance went good! I miss dancing. I dance in my living room all the time on p-day :)

Well this week has been great! I finished my first journal so I am glad you sent me another one so I can keep up on my journal writing. Last Tuesday (after I emailed you) I got to go to the temple. All of the cast trainers went with the Beckmans, our senior couple advisers. It was such a wonderful, beautiful experience. Words cannot describe my love for the temple and temple work. After that the Beckmans made us breakfast for dinner- waffles with REAL New York maple syrup! It was heaven on a plate!

Wednesday we had a specialized training with President Christianson down in Canandaigua.  It was so AWESOME. He talked about how we need to change our thoughts and feelings in our hearts to be more positive. Proverbs 23:7 says "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." By changing the negative thoughts that come to positive ones and letting the Savior change our hearts we will feel and see an increase of happiness, love for others (and ourselves), and success. We all should just be like Nephi; he is such a stud. He was positive, trusted in the Lord, and just went to work. Even his father, the prophet, murmured... but Nephi stayed strong and was cheerful through everything that happened to him. And he was a spiritual beast!

As always we've been working at the sites and teaching and testifying right and left each day. It is the BEST. Mom, you are right. The more you share your testimony the more it grows. I have definitely felt that in this short time I've been on my mission and I can't wait to see how much more it grows as I am out here, because this is only the beginning!

I got an interview with President on Saturday and it was SO GOOD.  Having that one on one time with him to ask him questions and express the things you are feeling and get personal council back from him is precious.  After that we went to the Beckmans to do some more cast training practice and then had some time in our area! We have a new investigator! Her name is Margret. She is a lady that is about 80ish. We met her at Wegmans (the popular grocery store here in NY) and we ran into her there 4 times!  Well when I saw her loading her car in the parking lot, I could not help but run over and help her and talk with her to get to know her. OBVIOUSLY the Lord was putting her in my path for a reason and He had to make me see her a 5th time so I would go DO SOMETHING. Well I invited her to the Hill Cumorah Pageant and she said it was hard for her to get out because she is a widow and her daughter just passed away.  So I asked her if I could get her address and my companion and I could come visit her.  She agreed! So Saturday after interviews and and cast training meeting we went over there.  Originally, we were just going over there to serve her but we ended up spending and hour and a half there to teach her the Plan of Salvation. She even prayed right there with us to know if it was true and she felt the Spirit witness to her that it is true! All of those doubts of where her husband and daughter are were gone. And she got so happy! We are going to go see her tomorrow so I am excited to follow up with her and teach her more.  It is so cool how just knowing that God loves us and has a plan for us brings so much joy and peace. I think we forget that sometimes and then you teach it to someone and you just see their eyes light up! It is amazing.

After we taught Margret, we got to take Julia and Marie their large print copies of the Book of Mormon. They were so happy! I love those sweet ladies. We also went to the Grahams and it was Logan's graduation party.  We got fed some good food, talked with some people from the ward, met some of their non-member friends, and listened to normal music! It was fun! And a really great way to show people that missionaries are normal and not weird, that we can play croquet and fail miserably and it's OKAY! (which we did by the way).  Fun day for sure.

Well I better be off, I have to go work at the Smith Farm now! But I love you and I pray for you. Have a good week!
Loves,
Sister Adams
